Eileen was always one of the most fun-loving people I knew.
But she had always wanted to write a memoir, and she was a bit nervous about doing so.
“When I started writing, I was really excited,” she says.
“I thought, ‘Oh my god, I can do this’.”
It’s been a year since I wrote my first book.
So when I started, I had a sense that this was going to be really hard.
I’d always written a lot of autobiographies.
I didn’t want to do it in this one book, because I wasn’t sure if I was doing it right.
“Then I thought, okay, I’m not writing a book anymore.
I’m going to do something else, and then I’ll have to work through the whole thing.”
For the first time in a while, Eileen found a quiet place to write.
She was spending her weekends at home, watching movies with her brother and reading books, like a little sister.
“It was the same thing I’d done in my childhood.
I went to the library and read,” she recalls.
“Then I would sit and play video games.
It was a wonderful, quiet time.
And then when I decided I wanted to go to the internet, I just started surfing the net.””
When you read, you feel like you’re being transported into the past,” she adds.”
There’s a whole history that goes back to when we were kids, but it’s really about the present.
It’s about our life now, and the things we’re doing now.”
The Princess Diary is her latest book, which has been in the works for years, and Eileen, who is 44, has been a writer since she was eight years old.
Eileen Fisher’s new book, The Princess Diary: ‘I’ve written over 50 books.
This is my last book’ is available from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Apple.com and other digital retailers.
