The big fish movies aren’t even close to the Oscars, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth a watch.

Here are the five big fish films that deserve your attention.


The Great Gatsby: Written by Mark L. Z. Danielewski, directed by William Shakespeare and starring Emma Thompson, Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro, and Daniel Day-Lewis, The Great Batsby is about a wealthy New York City family that gets sucked into a web of corruption that puts them in a difficult situation.

The movie is based on a novel by Mark Twain.

It’s one of the most widely acclaimed films of all time.


The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: A trilogy by J.R.

R Tolkien and Ian McKellen, The Fellowship, as it is known, follows Frodo Baggins (played by Martin Freeman) as he travels to Middle-earth to rescue Bilbo Baggins from a deadly dragon.

The story takes place between the end of the First Age and the start of the Second Age, during the Middle-Earth Wars.

The trilogy is considered one of Tolkien’s best films.


The Last Airbender: Written and directed by LeVar Burton, The Last Avatar follows a group of airbenders who are trapped on a remote island during the War of the Last Airbenders.

The plot centers around an ancient force of elemental spirits known as the Ten Rings.

The film has been praised for its strong acting, compelling story, and great acting performances by Jeremy Irons, Robert Knepper, and James Franco.


A Wrinkle in Time: Written in 1955, A Wrinkles is the story of the misadventures of a teenage boy named Mickey Mouse (Michael Douglas), who is brought to a small village in America by his Aunt Em (Greta Gerwig).

The film is a favorite of children.


Black Swan: Written, directed, and starring Idris Elba, Black Swan is a fairy tale about a girl named Swan who is swept away by a storm, and becomes lost in the woods.

It was the highest grossing film of 2016.
