Why is the mascot of Italy’s national soccer team not called ‘Alpina’? October 15, 2021 October 15, 2021 admin

When the football team of Italy has a mascot it is always called ‘Pescarezza’, not ‘Alpacina’.

In fact the name of the national team’s mascot, the ‘Alpa’, was never used in its name.

But on Friday a spokesman for the football association announced the change.

According to an official statement on the website of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), the mascot will be called ‘Anima’ and the team will be named ‘Alfonso’.

‘Piscarezza’ will now be the team’s official name, and the mascot name will be ‘Animo’.

‘Alpuinna’ will be the mascot’s name.

According the official statement, the changes were made because the mascot “is seen as an integral part of the team identity”.
